The'Wing' Contemporary Art Nixie Tube Clock

  
This is a one of a kind collaborative pieces designed with artist/engineer Dan Morrison of BLOTT WORKS and is intended as a retro-futuristic take on a desk clock, created for lovers of all things aeronautical and vehicular. This particular wing being the only one made with the top of the aerofoil made of sheet copper.

A truly eye catching clock, and beautifully engineered. The Wing' celebrates the simple beauty (and apparent magic) of an aerofoil profile. This pure form has been used as the basis for the aluminium body that houses the Nixie electronics.

The resulting wing-shaped body has then been raised up on two aeroframe-style legs shaped to give the impression of imminent flight. Handmade from aluminium and (fumed) oak for the base.

The Wing measures 23cm wide, 16cm deep and 25cm to the top of the jet engine. This clock features six large sized Z566M Nixie tubes giving HH:MM:SS and can be configured to display the date at specific intervals.

There is an alarm clock function and a variety of adjustable parameters to control the display appearance. The tubes are good for 20 years of operation before needing replacement.
